Artist  Statement
I am a photographer with a diverse cultural background, interests and influences. My visual explorations from architecture and urban landscapes to candid images of human conditions allowed me to understand that there are no tradition to follow or limits to engage. I like to construct my images always in reference to a social or cultural elements. Fictional or pragmatic.
I am looking for a visual result that can stand authenticity and honesty on its protagonists. I am learning from my own experimentation process as a momentary witness, emphasizing those moments of observation. I tent to visual scrutinize my subjects. In particular, how ordinary people can develop their boundaries, redefine their own places and how are they rediscovering their own nature while they are posing. Like in front of a social mirror, I’ve always been fascinated by their stories and confronting my self. I also like to dare my imagination, influenced and identified by my own testimony of people’s life and places. The images I like to show are usually loaded of simplicity with a high level of detail in the handle of color, tone and composition.
I try to apply these concepts to contemporary photography, portraying members of my community or even strangers, trying to reflect our boundaries, the merits and failures of our society ready to face new transitions and changes, adding few key personal elements from my own autobiography.
